Topic: Advancing Nonprofit Capacity

Competition for grants, sponsorships, and donations has never been higher, so nonprofits must differentiate themselves in a world of scarce resources. Social Return on Investment (SROI) is a type of impact analysis, a calculation that describes the monetary value associated with your mission’s impact and, conversely, the cost to society if your nonprofit did not exist (i.e. resources saved and benefits gained). Learning how to calculate and communicate SROI to grant makers, donors, civic leaders, elected officials, and corporations can increase your fundraising success. How? SROI is a calculation based in the for-profit sector, and we can use their methods to communicate more effectively-to speak the language of-philanthropic investors. An extension of the traditional Logic Model, SROI is another tool for telling our nonprofit stories more effectively in a manner that speaks to both the hearts and minds of funding decision-makers.

In this interactive presentation, Heather will walk you through the how, what, when, and why behind the SROI. Engage with other development professionals to learn new ways to communicate your most meaningful results to stakeholders.
