POSITION SUMMARY
UOSSM USA seeks a Development Manager, Individual Giving to support the growth and strengthening of its individual donor program. This is a hands-on role responsible for managing donor data, cultivating donor relationships, analyzing fundraising performance, and helping implement strategies to grow individual giving.
The Development Manager will play a key role in maintaining the organization’s donor management systems, identifying opportunities to strengthen donor engagement, and implementing practical strategies to cultivate and retain donors. This role requires a professional who is comfortable both developing fundraising strategies and executing the day-to-day work required to implement them in a small and collaborative team environment.
REPORTING STRUCTURE
The Development Manager reports to the Vice President/ Acting CEO and works closely with the Managing Director/ CFO on administrative, financial, and funding coordination, as well as with the Public Relations Director and Program Director.
POSITION TYPE
This is a 1099 contractor position requiring approximately 16-20 hours per week. The role offers flexible scheduling and remote work capability, with occasional local meetings or events as needed.
The position may be performed remotely; however, candidates located in or near the Cincinnati, Ohio area is preferred in order to facilitate occasional in-person meetings with the Vice President/ Acting CEO.
Compensation is expected to range between $40–$55 per hour, depending on experience.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Donor Management & CRM (NEON)
- Manage and maintain the organization’s donor database (NEON), including entering and updating donor records and ensuring data accuracy.
- Conduct regular reviews of donor records to maintain data integrity and improve the quality of donor information.
- Analyze donor data to identify giving trends, donor segments, and opportunities for donor growth and retention.
- Generate reports and insights to inform fundraising strategy and leadership decision-making.
- Coordinate with finance and communications teams to ensure accurate tracking of donations and donor communications.
Individual Donor Cultivation
- Cultivate and steward relationships with individual donors through personalized outreach, follow-up, and engagement strategies.
- Identify opportunities to strengthen relationships with existing donors and encourage continued or increased support.
- Prepare donor profiles, briefing materials, and follow-up plans for leadership meetings with donors.
- Conduct prospect research and identify potential new donors through data analysis and external research.
Fundraising Strategy & Implementation
- Work with leadership to develop and implement a 12-month individual fundraising strategy focused on donor cultivation, retention, and growth.
- Track fundraising performance and recommend opportunities to strengthen donor engagement and giving levels.
- Conduct donor analysis to identify donor segments, giving trends, and opportunities for donor upgrades.
Board and Leadership Support
- Support leadership in strengthening board engagement in fundraising activities by preparing donor insights, tracking outreach activities, and assisting with board-related fundraising initiatives when needed.
- Help track donor outreach and follow-up related to leadership and board engagement.
Collaboration & Communications
- Collaborate with the Communications & Public Relations Manager to align donor communications and fundraising messaging.
- Support the preparation of donor communications, stewardship updates, and impact materials when needed.
EARLY PRIORITIES AND MILESTONES
First 30 Days
Review and assess the organization’s donor database and fundraising systems.
Evaluate the structure and quality of donor records within the Neon CRM system.
Conduct an initial review of donor history and giving patterns.
Identify immediate opportunities to improve donor data quality and tracking processes.
Begin engaging with selected donors through follow-up, stewardship communication, or outreach activities.
Within 60 Days
Implement improvements to donor data management and reporting systems.
Establish clear processes for tracking donor engagement and follow-up activities.
Identify key donor segments and opportunities for donor cultivation or upgrades.
Begin implementing donor stewardship and engagement activities to strengthen relationships with existing donors.
Within 90 Days (Strategic Milestones)
Present recommendations to leadership for strengthening the individual donor program.
Develop a 12-month individual fundraising strategy focused on donor cultivation, retention, and growth.
Identify opportunities for expanding the donor base and strengthening leadership and board engagement in fundraising.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Minimum 4–6 years of experience in nonprofit fundraising, donor relations, or development roles
- Demonstrated experience working with individual giving programs
- Required: Experience using a nonprofit CRM system for donor management and fundraising analysis (NEON CRM strongly preferred)
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret donor data and identify fundraising opportunities
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a small team environment

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience working with mid-level or major donors
- Experience supporting board fundraising engagement
- Familiarity with donor stewardship strategies and donor pipeline development
