National Philanthropy Day (NPD) is a special day set aside to promote philanthropy and recognize individuals, organizations and businesses that are inspiring change through their significant impact on nonprofit organizations. Each day, generous benefactors and volunteers make a difference to people across a spectrum of nonprofit organizations from the arts to education to social services and everything in between. The National Philanthropy Day Program is our annual, signature event at which people representing businesses, nonprofits, philanthropists and volunteers come together to celebrate our vibrant philanthropic community. All nonprofit organizations have the opportunity to participate in our Honored Guest process by recognizing donors, volunteers and special friends who have made a truly exceptional impact.

Sponsorships

What’s it like to be a sponsor?

“The Fifth Third Foundation is proud to announce our 10th year as presenting sponsor for the National Philanthropy Day hosted by the Association of Fundraising Professionals. Even though we’re not together in person this year, our virtual event continues to celebrate those we honor today, share the spirit of philanthropy, and inspire us to strive for a better community for all. During this past year, and particularly the last six months, the philanthropic community has risen to the multitude of challenges presented by the pandemic. We are so honored to join AFP in celebrating the shared impact of all organizations who are working so diligently every day to make communities in Cincinnati better places for all to live, work, and thrive.”

–Heidi Jark, Managing Director, Senior Vice President, Fifth Third Foundation

Honorary Chair

Barbara A. Turner, CRCP,
President and COO, Ohio National Financial Services

We are excited to announce Barbara Turner as the 2020 National Philanthropy Day Honorary Chair this year! Barbara has a huge heart for serving others and has made a significant impact in our community. A native of Cincinnati and a UC Bearcat alumna, Barbara was named President and Chief Operating Officer of Ohio National Financial Services in November 2018. She is the eleventh president and first woman and person of color to hold this position at ONFS since its founding in 1909.

Barbara’s leadership has inspired others to step up and make a difference. She currently or has recently served on the boards of Advocates for Youth Education, Cincinnati Playhouse in the Park, Cincinnati State Technical & Community College, Cincinnati USA Regional Chamber, Cincinnati Women’s Executive Forum, Greater Cincinnati Foundation, LL Global, Inc., United Way of Greater Cincinnati, and Women’s Fund of the Greater Cincinnati Foundation. Barbara is also a member of the Cincinnati Regional Business Committee; Executive Leadership Council; and was the 2019 Campaign Chair for American Heart Association/American Stroke Association Great Rivers Affiliate/Go Red for Women campaign exceeding the fundraising goal of $1 million.

She has a special interest in mentoring at-risk teenage girls and single moms and helping women and children achieve self-sufficiency and financial independence. Barbara launched the Ohio National Women’s Network (OWN) in 2016 and has formerly mentored or sponsored countless associates since joining ONFS. Barbara attributes her success to her faith, family, work ethic and strong support network.

Barbara’s life is a testament to our theme this year, Making A Difference Together. We are thrilled to welcome Barbara Turner as our 2020 Honorary Chair!

Master of Ceremonies

Kristyn Hartman
WCPO Channel 9 On Your Side

Kristyn, a Chicago native, joined WCPO 9 On Your side as an evening anchor on April 2017. She has won multiple awards including a regional Edward R. Murrow Award, four Ohio Valley Emmy Awards and two Ohio Associated Press Awards. Before and after a mastectomy in October 2015, Kristyn publicly discussed the process to raise awareness about the procedure and the importance of cancer screening.

She is most proud of the stories that really educate viewers, introduces them to someone special, and takes them somewhere they haven’t been. When asked what Kristyn loves about Cincinnati, she says: “The people. The culture. The history. The news. Pro Football. Pro Baseball. And it’s a beautiful city. I love the hills. And I love that it’s where the Midwest meets the South.”

As a college student at Northwestern University, where she graduated in 1992, Hartman was a news intern at Chicago’s WBBM-TV. She worked as an anchor-reporter in Joplin, Mo.; Peoria, Ill., Charlotte, N.C., and Phoenix, Ariz., and Columbus, OH.

Honored Guests… Celebrating Our Supporters

As part of National Philanthropy Day (NPD), the Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP) invites nonprofit organizations to recognize and celebrate individuals: donors, volunteers and special friends who support and further their missions.

How to Select Honored Guests: During the NPD registration process, nonprofit organizations may submit the names of their Honored Guests – donors, volunteers and special friends. AFP requests that nonprofits submit only Honored Guest names of people that will be attending the virtual broadcast. When guest names are entered, Honored Guest designations can be chosen. AFP will list Honored Guest names on the NPD event web page. Honored Guest names must be submitted to AFP by October 23, 2020 for inclusion in the program.

If you need assistance in entering guest names or designating which ones are Honored Guests, email us at Admin@AFPCincinnati.org.
