Topic: Ethical Issues in Charitable Organizations

Speaker: Corrie McGlothlin, BBB Center for Ethics

Ethics Presenter: Tricia Sunders, American Heart Association.

Unethical behavior remains a persistent problem in nonprofits and for-profits alike. In this presentation, we will examine the ethical issues that arise specifically in charitable organizations, and the best ways to promote ethical behavior within them. We will look at real, local examples of common ethical dilemmas, and examine trends and stats we see in our reports. We’ll make case studies of Torch Award-winning nonprofits, to show how area nonprofit teams have demonstrated superior ethics when confronted with ethical dilemmas, and just how important transparency is in this industry.
