GENERAL SUMMARY
The Development Assistant is responsible for providing administrative support to the VP of Development in all fundraising activities including donor and public relations, direct mail appeals and special events.
PRINCIPLE DUTIES
Essential Job Duties:
- Works with CVC Office Assistant in processing donations, acknowledgment letters and other correspondence
- Maintain foundation, corporation and individual donor files
- Create monthly fundraising reports and other database reports, as needed
- Assist with maintaining accurate database records and ensuring proper donor activity tracking in database
- Conduct preliminary research on prospective donors
- Conduct production and mailing of spring and year-end appeal letters
- Coordinate fundraising event planning and logistics for fundraisers
- Handle all administrative details associated with the Development office
- Prepare media materials for distribution. (i.e. copying, filing, mailing, e-mailing)
- Assembles media and donor kits for events and meetings
- Other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS
- Associate or bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent
- Minimum of three years’ experience in an administrative position, preferably in a not-for-profit development office
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint. Non-profit database experience (Raiser’s Edge) preferred
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to work independently with little supervision
- Ability to present information concisely, both verbally and in writing
- Ability to organize, prioritize and manage workflow
- Excellent interpersonal skills
- Commitment to excellence and high standards
- Proficient writing/composition skills
- Ability to communicate effectively in English
- Ability to perform simple mathematics and thorough knowledge and skill in typing and word processing
