About our Speakers:

Marcia Dowds, Chief Development and Marketing Officer, Girl Scouts of Western Ohio

As Chief Development and Marketing Officer for Girl Scouts of Western Ohio, Marcia oversees the philanthropic and marketing strategies for the sixth largest Girl Scout Council in the nation. Marcia joined Girl Scouts of Western Ohio in 2000 and discovered a passion for the Girl Scout mission.

Her commitment to the organization led to a series of leadership positions, including Senior Membership Director, Service Delivery Manager, and Director of Regional Services.

Marcia’s involvement with other community youth initiatives have included the Clark County Community Alliance for Youth and the Montgomery County Rise Sister Rise committee. Prior to coming to Girl Scouts, Marcia held management positions in both corporate and nonprofit organizations.

Marcia grew up in Columbus, Ohio, and graduated cum laude from The Ohio State University. She earned a certificate in Fund Raising Management from the Indiana University Lilly Family School of Philanthropy and is a member of the Association of Fundraising Professionals. Marcia lives in Dayton, Ohio and can frequently be found hiking in one of the region’s amazing parks in her free time.

KayAnn Taylor Rutter, Director of Marketing & Communications, Girl Scouts of Western Ohio

A strategic marketing communications leader, KayAnn joined Girl Scouts of Western Ohio in 2018, after 11+ years in a similar role at United Way of Central Ohio.

She loves data as much as words, and thrives on turning strategy into tactics, ideas into action, and disparate views into consensus.

KayAnn earned a B.A. from Ohio Wesleyan University and is a 2014 graduate of Leadership Columbus. On the corporate side, she has held roles in professional services marketing and health care communications.

She’s a member of AMA Cincinnati and IABC Greater Cincinnati (International Association of Business Communicators) and is a past president of IABC Columbus. KayAnn also served on the board of the Ohio Association of Nonprofit Organizations for six years and has been an active school and church volunteer. Outside of work, KayAnn keeps busy launching two young adults (i.e., driving around the state!) and exploring her new surroundings in southwest Ohio.

This event has been approved for 1.5 CFRE Credits.
